So we hopped into our car the other day with our PJs, duvet and Teddy to bring you this little festive tune by Augie Rios as part of our our Carpool Karaoke series. You can sign along regardless of whether you are singing the English or Spanish words – showing how the Makaton gestures can bridge both languages and help you learn! Great eh? Such a cute and catchy little song too.
Note on Translation:
For Mamacita – we’ve signed MUMMY as this is clearly a little child singing to his Mummy – but this is an old track and the connotations of this word have changed in the US / South America so don’t go and use the word Mamacita for someone’s Mum over there as you might get some funny looks……
Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus? (MUMMY / WHERE / FATHER CHRISTMAS)
Donde esta Santa Claus? (WHERE / FATHER CHRISTMAS)
And the toys that he will leave? (TOYS / BRING *DIRECTIONAL)
Mamacita, oh, where is Santa Claus? (MUMMY / WHERE / FATHER CHRISTMAS)
I look for him because it’s a Christmas Eve. (LOOK *DIRECTIONAL / BECAUSE / CHRISTMAS / NIGHT)
I know that I should be sleeping, (KNOW / I / SLEEP)
But maybe he’s not far away, (NOT / FAR)
Out of the window I’m peeping, (WINDOW / LOOK *DIRECTIONAL)
Hoping to see him in his sleigh. (HOPE / TO SEE / SLEIGH)
I hope he won’t forget to crack his castinet, (HOPE / NO / FORGET / GESTURE *CASTINET)
And to his reindeer, say, (TALK (TELL) / REINDEER)
