(Sept 2018)
To celebrate our 15th birthday and to have an official ‘launch’ of our Singing Hands Goes Pop DVD – we hosted our first ever Pop Party at the fabulous Langdon Down Theatre in Teddington, home of the DSA.
We had 120 guests from local disability groups aged from 16 years upwards – coming from RHLT, Enhanceable Kingston, Kingston MENCAP, Richmond MENCAP and True Access.
Tom and Andrew were our DJs for the night – they kept the place rocking with an eclectic repertoire of dance floor faves.
We had a good old boogie and then the two of us did a selection of signed songs from our new DVD and our pals Tel & Michael of Ukewlele did a live music set of pop classics.
Then it was back to more dancing! And you know what was the best bit? Everyone danced from the minute they arrived till the minute the party was over – and not just the young people, all the carers were up and dancing too. We LOVED it!
In addition to this we had our pal Tamra (No Fuss Photography) running her glitzy photobooth with all her wonderful props – here are a selection of pix but there are more over on our our Facebook page
We had really great feedback at the end with guests telling us that it was such a lovely opportunity for different groups from each side of the River (Thames obviously) to get together and mingle. They asked us to do another one so watch this space 🙂
